Winter Spring 2022

PROJECT OF THE MONTH

CHESHIRE GARDEN

The images above show the 3D model renders vs the built garden of our recent entry to The Northern Design Awards. We are finding that 3D models are a useful and accurate design tool. With this level of detail, we can demonstrate the design intent clearly to our clients and wider design team.

Our client's brief was to design and develop the existing tired outdoor space so it would reflect their elegant and modern styling of their new extension and home interiors and ultimately improve the relationship between the inside and outside spaces.

SKETCHBOOK

In contrast to the 3D modelling and finished garden photographs, we always start our design process with a pencil. Considering the existing features of the landscape and the opportunities they present allows us to form an initial concept and basis for our detailed design. This sketch indicates the existing field structure, existing trees, access and proposed drainage. We will then use this to layer up detailed information and create our landscape proposals.

BEFORE & AFTER

We often design to create a destination away from the house within a garden. This will often utilise a sunny aspect or give a resting spot to enjoy a key view of the house or landscape. Setting this space within a garden involves considered planting design to give a comfortable and inviting space to relax and to avoid a new space 'floating' in garden.

BEHIND THE SCENES

We were recently accredited the Once Carbon World Carbon Neutral International Standard. Our company carbon footprint was measured (considering energy, fuel, water, waster, business travel, commuting and materials).

We continue to review our impact and this year we hope to work with landowners to encourage water retention schemes and management for biodiversity net gain.
