The Drawing Board - Autumn 2021

Autumn 2021

PROJECT OF THE MONTH

NEW HOUSE FARM, HATTON

Barnes Walker have been part of a successful team for a planning appeal for 31no. houses (inc. 9 no. affordable houses) at the Equestrian complex at New House Farm, Hatton, Warrington.

The three year planning process has involved a great team effort with Emery Planning, Barrie Newcombe Associates , SCP and Martin Carter (Kings Chambers) amongst others.

The Inspector was fully supportive of the settlement character and landscape and visual arguments put forward. The landscape-led design approach taken for the redevelopment of the existing equestrian facility within the green belt was found to be fully justified.

SKETCHBOOK

These visuals were created to support a planning application for a new residential development in Hertfordshire for Beck Developments . A landscape led masterplan with a strong ecological focus was produced with Greensquare Architecture and JWPC Planning Consultants. Green corridors with rich native habitat is proposed to embed the new development and enhance the ecological value of the site.

BEFORE & AFTER

These images were taken a year apart. Invasive himalyan balsam and self seeded saplings were cleared. The existing stream and pond were reshaped to allow for gentle banking suitable for new marginal planting and wetland edge meadow mix. New native understorey trees and shrubs have been planted to ensure sustainable woodland succession for years to come. This view will change yet again in a years time when the new planting and seed establishes.

BEHIND THE SCENES

We are pleased to announce our recent win in the UK Property Awards 2021 in the Landscape Architecture, North West category.
